Pheasants Forever is dedicated
to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat
improvement, public awareness, education and land management policies and
programs
Our Chapter continues to
lead the way in conservation in Pottawattamie County with wildlife habitat by
building buffer stripes, food plots, tree planting and land acquisitions. We
continue to be on the cutting edge of preserving Iowa's natural habitat for
generations to come.
It is my hope that our children and grandchildren realize the benefits of our
conservation efforts, and continue our endeavors as they step into Pheasants
Forever leadership roles. |

Hey,
Pottawattamie County PF!!
Our Hats are off to You on Reaching Your
$250,000 Milestone!!
Thanks to Your
Members And
Your Local PF
Committee Volunteers
This
year marks the 18thth Anniversary of the first Pheasants Forever
banquet in Pottawattamie County. When things started, some folks were
skeptical of what this young upstart organization could accomplish. That
first event created $3787 for habitat plantings the next spring—the first PF
projects in Pott County. Not much money, even back then. Great things,
however, spring from humble beginnings.
What a difference
those 18 years have made. Last year, with the help of it’s sponsors and
members, Pottawattamie County PF put $33,388 into local habitat and conservation
education projects right here in Pottawattamie County. Over the years Pott PF
established 722 projects on nearly 16,000 acres--food plots, nesting cover,
trees for winter cover, and much, much more. Your chapter was also the
driving force behind acquisition of the Farm Creek Wildlife Area, now owned
by your Pottawattamie County Conservation Board—an area where public
hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing will now be available, forever . All
these efforts over the past 18 years have brought Pottawattamie County PF to a
significant milestone in spending—the investment of $250,471 on local
conservation projects that will benefit wildlife and the people of your area
for generations to come.
Everything you see above was accomplished by a spirited Iowa chapter that
has an enthusiasm that is unparalleled in the conservation community. We at
Pheasants Forever could not be more proud of the men and women that give
their time as volunteers on Pottawattamie County PF Committee! Please thank
them for the selfless efforts they make on behalf of wildlife, and youth in
your community. And thanks to you, as well, for being a part of our family
— as a member tonight at this banquet. Your support here tonight helps your
chapter to create the funding that builds a better future for wildlife.
Their efforts ensure there will be a bright wildlife future for those who
follow.

COMMERCIAL RECOGNITION AWARD
Darrell Stamp
The Commercial Recognition Award is given to a business, financial
institution, or group to recognize their efforts in conservation awareness.
The Pottawattamie County Pheasants Forever Chapter is being
given this award because of their outstanding conservation efforts! They
realized that Pottawattamie County was without a public hunting area and
made that need into a reality called the Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area.
They have contributed significant financial assistance through chapter funds,
grants, fundraisers and financial incentives for CRP sign ups. This has
allowed a number of acres in Pottawattamie County to be seeded down
to native grasses, forbs and crops to provide cover, nesting and food for all
varieties of wildlife!
This spring they assisted the County Conservation Board in
adding 240 acres to the Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area making a grand total of
320 acres available for public use!
This Chapter has excelled in promoting conservation awareness and
turned that awareness into applied conservation.
